ROLE: Purchasing Manager

ROLE:
As Purchasing Manager, you will report directly to the Board of Directors with full responsibility for company spend and stock management for LED Group. You will work in partnership with Quality Control, Accounts, Marketing, Sales and New Product Development teams as well as LED Group in China. You will review current procurement procedures in line with a cost savings and development strategy ensuring the most efficient return on investment in stock.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic:

  • Develop, implement, and communicate strategies, goals, and objectives to improve supply chain performance
  • Implement new stock & forecasting system with assistance of IT department
  • Continuous assessment of suppliers and China office performance
  • Supplier Consolidation - switchover handled in an effective, efficient manner to ensure no out of stock
  • Seeking price reductions from suppliers in line with market trends and developments
  • Integration of departments – work alongside NPD / QC / RD&I to ensure no plans are conflicting
  • Implementation of PLM – Product Life Cycle Management
  • Liaise with Warehouse manager to plan & implement UK hub project

Operational:

  • Overseeing company spend & stock levels for LED Group – Australian / Irish / Export markets to ensure KPI’s are achieved in line with company objectives / targets
  • Development & recognition of Purchasing Assistant Manager, once annual appraisal & salary review
  • Management of all suppliers regarding all aspects of price, delivery, lead times, MOQ, payment & freight terms
  • Targeted price reductions set out on a rolling 12-month plan and reviewed quarterly
  • Travel to China to meet with suppliers and the LED China Office two to three times per annum Annual Supplier Business review meetings held in an effective manner every December
  • Meeting preparation for all supplier meetings with clear objectives set out
  • Attend UK Regional Sales meetings where necessary, followed by customer calls
  • Attend Management meetings

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High-powered, strong negotiation skills
  • IIPMM Degree qualified in Business & Supply Chain
  • Demand planning / procurement professional with 7yrs+ experience, ideally in the Lighting sector
  • Strong stakeholder / supplier management experience
  • Experience leading & implementing projects from start to finish
  • Experience leading tenders process from start to finish, specifically RFI’s
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel, including advanced spreadsheet tools
  • Proven problem solving, planning and analytical skills, high standard of numeracy is a must
  • Product life cycle management experience
  • SAP experience

Due to our continued growth, we are now seeking to recruit a Purchasing Assistant based in Dublin. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will work in partnership with Quality Control, Accounts, Marketing, Sales and New Product Development teams as well as LED Group in China.


ROLE:
To manage the stockholding for a range of products to ensure “out of stock” and “excess stock” targets are met in the most cost-effective manner.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Forecasting / ordering a specific set of products to ensure that a set inventory level is achieved & maintained
  • Managing open orders with suppliers to ensure there is sufficient stock on hand at all times to satisfy demand
  • Dealing with enquiries from the sales teams with regards to large orders and stock availability dates
  • Generation of specific reports and administrative tasks outlined by the Assistant Purchasing Manager
  • Monitoring supplier lead-times and performance and taking corrective action where necessary
  • Minimizing excess stock levels

ROLE: Mechatronic/Mechanical Engineer

DETAILS: Full Time - Dublin West
Reporting to: RD&I Director

 

ROLE:
To efficiently carry out and deliver all mechanical engineering design requirements at the Dublin operations of LED Group; to carry out value engineering of existing products under price pressure; and to contribute to electrical/electronics subprojects in lighting design, in order to contribute to the delivery of successful R&D-originated products and which will deliver on or above target gross profit to LED Group.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a full time mechatronic engineer to join our R&D department, working in concert with our new product introductions and quality departments, our prototyping subcontractors, and our Asian operations.

Reporting to the RD&I Director, the appointee will drive a licence of the company's SolidWorks and/or AutoDesk Inventor computer-aided design software to generate 3D model designs and reduce these to full sets of engineering drawings for new prototype and production products developed in the company's R&D laboratories at its global headquarters in Dublin, or in collaboration with our Chinese suppliers. The appointee will be expected to work closely with the RD&I Director, the New Product Development team, and the Quality Control team, as well as with the company's quality control, engineering and manufacturing teams in China. The appointee will also be expected to work closely with suppliers and subcontractors in the early stages of product development and introduction. Flexibility with duties is an essential.

DESIRED SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

The successful candidate should have:

  • A professionally approved degree in mechatronic engineering, or in mechanical engineering or product design or similar. We are also interested to hear from electrical engineers as part of our wider recruitment plans.
  • At least 1-2 years experience in industry is preferred; we are prepared to review CVs from engineering graduates of 2017 class or earlier who have good grades; we will also review CVs from more experienced engineers.
  • Experience in designing components or products of any of the following types is an advantage:
    • Lighting products / luminaires, or other optical / optoelectronics
    • Electrical devices/appliances (consumer or professional/industrial)
    • Solar (thermal or photovoltaic) installations
    • Thermal loading / cooling / heatsink requirements
    • Control units
  • Proficiency and sustained industrial experience in SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor is essential for this appointment (preferable if that includes thermal modules, but training can be provided on this). Candidates will be expected to show evidence of having successfully designed product and components using SolidWorks or Autodesk, at least by reference.
  • Good understanding of engineering for manufacture, tolerances, bills of materials, costings
  • Experience managing subcontract precision mechanical engineering and tooling shops
  • Be able to multi-task, on multiple new product developments, and meet project deadlines
  • Good understanding of heat flow, thermal management, and strain an advantage
  • Good understanding of material properties (thermal, mechanical, optical, curing, fracture mechanisms, fire and chemical resistance) an advantage
  • Helpful to have understanding of 3D printing
  • Good understanding of reliability and quality assurance/control
  • Be customer focussed
  • Willing to travel as required to Chinese factories or other subcontractors. There will be a requirement to travel to China several times per year for 7-10 days at a time.
  • This is a job requiring an organised, methodical engineer with practical experience, who is self-starting, confident, responsive, and practical, and willing to engage in the broader product research and development process including electrical, optical, design, thermal and materials engineering.
  • Applicants must have fluency in English, the operational language of the Company, including technical English, and should currently have the right to work in Ireland including any necessary work permits or visas.

Due to growing market share in all areas, we are now seeking to recruit another person to join our Graduate Programme, which involves a wide remit of training across most company departments, including time spent in the field. At the end of the 12 month training programme, this person is eligible to be offered a position in an area that suits their competencies and the business’ requirements; however, for this particular recruit we are highlighting an opportunity to join our sales team in Australia.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate to join our business and receive hands-on training and a general overview of how an international business operates. Based in Dublin, you will receive 12 months full training in Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, Research and New Product Development, Purchasing, IT, Accounts and Operations Management. Post 12 months training and upon successful appraisal it is our hope to move the successful graduate to a sales role in Australia.


KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • 12 months training across departments, which will be outlined by department, timeline and areas covered during your induction period.
  • In particular, time in the field with Irish, UK and European Sales Teams.
  • Examples of key duties during this time include:
    • Time in the field gaining customer insights and an in-depth understanding of their needs and market opportunities. This may involve organizing surveys, analyzing statistics or meeting with customers.
    • Review current range portfolio and participate in product training, building product knowledge.
    • Researching competitor websites / catalogues and marketing activities.
    • Assisting with the preparation of customer trips and events.
    • Responding to and delivering ad hoc requests from the business as they arise
