ROLE: NPD Technical Advisor

DETAILS: Full Time - Dublin West 

DESCRIPTION:
The LED GROUP is an Irish company established in 1984 with a highly successful worldwide lighting business. We have our own factory in China, with our most significant markets being Ireland, UK, Australia, New Zealand and European markets.

Due to expansion, we are now seeking to recruit a New Product Development Technical Advisor. Based in Dublin and dealing daily with our office in China, you will proactively manage the NPD function alongside the team to support the company’s new product development targets.

Reporting to the New Product Development Manager, you will work in partnership with the Quality Control, Technical, Marketing, Sales and Purchasing teams to ensure new products launched under the ROBUS brand meet the required specification and are launched within agreed deadlines.

KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide technical support on all new product projects
  • Review products to ensure wiring, installation, circuitry etc is installer friendly
  • Take full responsibility for NPD technical information - fully understand a products specification – able to see how it fits into existing range
  • Manage the technical files and supporting documents for NPD projects ensuring they are accurate and complete
  • Review supplier emails to spot opportunities to broaden the ROBUS range
  • Provide assistance to China sourcing office developing ‘Conversions’ type products for Australia
  • Manage process around initial test reports and provide feedback to QC team
  • Conduct market research and feedback market requirements to Chinese sourcing team
  • Present new product plans to customers during visits to our head office
  • Be responsible for gathering and proofing data for catalogues
  • Answer Technical queries on NPD launches

 

SKILLS:
This is a demanding position and requires someone diligent with strong problem solving skills

  • Technical graduate (Electronics/Engineering)
  • Electrical experience with strong technical aptitude
  • Previous LED lighting experience would be desirable, but not essential
  • Ability to work to own initiative and taking full responsibility for particular aspects of a project
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills. Very strong attention to detail
  • Multi-tasker, ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong willed, confident, problem solver
  • Clear, concise communicator
  • Achievement orientated and has a real passion for quality, demonstrating this in your working practices

  • This role will require travelling to the UK for training and conducting market research, and may also require travelling to China to visit manufactures with trips lasting approx. 5-7 days

ROLE: NPD Executive

DETAILS: Full Time - Dublin West

Due to expansion, we are now seeking to recruit a New Product Development Executive. Based in Dublin and dealing daily with our office in China, you will proactively manage the NPD function alongside the team to support the company’s new product development targets.

Reporting to the New Product Development Manager, you will work in partnership with the Quality Control, Technical, Marketing, Sales and Purchasing teams to ensure new products launched under the ROBUS brand meet the required specification and are launched within agreed deadlines.

KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:

ROLE:To assist in the management of all new and existing product development projects, ensuring the NPD Gross Profit Annual Targets are delivered.

Your responsibilities will be met through

 

  • Managing own projects from start to completion, constantly striving to push projects through the development process within agreed deadlines
  • Daily communication with the relevant parties in China to update and follow up actions
  • Monitoring and recording all new product activity through updating the main NPD databases
    • NPD master database of ongoing projects
    • New product sample tracking
    • Potential supplier master sheet
    • Payment log
    • NPD project by number folders
    • Supplier quotation folders
    • New Product specification forms (065)
  • Complete the NPD monthly reports
  • Lead the monitoring and recording all samples ordered, received and allocating costs appropriately
  • Lead the preparation work for weekly NPD samples review meetings
  • Collate and cross reference new product information supplied by QC and NPD China. Complete comparison sheets and make suggestions based on evaluation of data
  • Upload and maintain product info on ROBUSdirect ensuring information available is up to date, correct and consistent
  • Advise relevant parties when new product arrives into stock, circulating all relevant product launch documents
  • Monitor sales of new products against forecasts 3 months after launch date and provide progress report
  • Lead the preparation for quarterly research meeting by ensuring samples and product information is available; record all actions arising from these meetings
  • Support the NPD manager with preparation of materials in advance of visits to China
  • Co-operate and liaise with other departments to ensure sales of new products are supported by responding to enquiries within satisfactory time frames

 

SKILLS

ROLE: Buyer/Senior Buyer

Due to company expansion and business growth, we are now seeking to recruit a Buyer based in Dublin and dealing daily with our office in China, you will proactively manage the purchasing operations function.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will work in partnership with the Quality Control, Accounts, Marketing, Sales and New Product Development teams as well as LED Group in China.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


1) Products Availability, Inventory and Cost Management
• Identify, report and escalate out-of-stock risk, inventory levels and logistical challenges which will impact on customer service levels and sales revenue
• Expedite or de-expedite product as required, ensuring material availability at all times, whilst meeting agreed inventory targets
• Deal with enquiries from the sales teams with regards to large orders and stock availability dates
• Understand and maintain the agreed target of inventory and report on the status of inventory levels against inventory targets
• Pricing/cost management and conduct cost analysis
• Maintain accurate item master data e.g. lead times, batch size, safety stock target, etc to ensure 100% system data accuracy at all times

2) Purchase Order and Supplier Management
• Forecast sales requirements and place purchase orders accordingly
• Manage open orders with suppliers to ensure there is sufficient stock on hand at all times to satisfy customer demand
• Ensure and maintain realistic dates or supplier promise dates on open orders for accuracy of information to Sales team
• Request shipment tracking information from suppliers as needed
• Follow up with suppliers for past due orders
• Monitor supplier lead-times and performance and take corrective action where necessary
• Support/lead supplier management activities
• Maintain excellent supplier relationships
• Resolve receiving, invoicing and payment issues

3) Continuous Process Improvement and Results through Teamwork
• Identify/execute process improvements within Purchasing
• Support purchasing team as required in achieving Purchasing metrics/goals
• Provides procurement support, focusing on multiple simple-to-complex products, as well as specific products to develop expertise
• Contribute to Purchasing procedures and audit compliance
• Collaborates with internal partners to meet business objectives, ensure control and compliance requirements across businesses
• Collaborate with teams to maintain and enhance the current operations and processes
• Perform tasks as assigned and applies experience to align individual work with overall strategy using discretion and judgment
• Generate specific reports, e.g. excess inventory, out-of-stock, cost savings, total spending reports and administrative tasks outlined by the Purchasing Manager

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED:


• 3rd level qualification in Business/Purchasing/Materials/Supply Chain/Logistics Management or equivalent APICS Certification or IIPMM Diploma
• MRP experience (3 years+) in a purchasing/supply chain environment (preferably with SAP Business One experience)
• Excellent forecasting and planning as well as analytical skills
• Impeccable attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency
• Strong knowledge of Excel, good knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and basic knowledge of Visio
• Ability to exercise independent judgement as appropriate
• Ability to manage high pressure, short timelines and willingness to be flexible
• Responsive to sudden request, changing priorities, new workloads
• Ability to conduct reasonably complex data analysis and provide clear, accurate conclusions with appropriate level of details
• Ability to makes timely and sound decisions, through effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions
• Ability to effectively communicate ideas and influence department decisions by providing accurate, relevant data to support recommendations
• Ability to use various problem-solving tools to identify/resolve potential Purchasing issues and drive improvements in existing processes
• Preferably proven project management experience with ability to lead projects

Due to growing market share in all areas, we are now seeking to recruit another person to join our Graduate Programme, which involves a wide remit of training across most company departments, including time spent in the field. At the end of the 12 month training programme, this person is eligible to be offered a position in an area that suits their competencies and the business’ requirements; however, for this particular recruit we are highlighting an opportunity to join our sales team in Australia.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate to join our business and receive hands-on training and a general overview of how an international business operates. Based in Dublin, you will receive 12 months full training in Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, Research and New Product Development, Purchasing, IT, Accounts and Operations Management. Post 12 months training and upon successful appraisal it is our hope to move the successful graduate to a sales role in Australia.

KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • 12 months training across departments, which will be outlined by department, timeline and areas covered during your induction period.
  • In particular, time in the field with Irish, UK and European Sales Teams.
  • Examples of key duties during this time include:
    • Time in the field gaining customer insights and an in-depth understanding of their needs and market opportunities. This may involve organizing surveys, analyzing statistics or meeting with customers.
    • Review current range portfolio and participate in product training, building product knowledge.
    • Researching competitor websites / catalogues and marketing activities.
    • Assisting with the preparation of customer trips and events.
    • Responding to and delivering ad hoc requests from the business as they arise
